Following the lead of several professional leagues around the country, including the NHL and AHL, the ECHL suspended its season Thursday, putting the Idaho Steelheads season on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Madison Hodnett recorded a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds, as the Liberty Charter (13-7 overall, 8-1 1A WIC) girls basketball team upset fifth-ranked Greenleaf Friends 34-27 in 1A Western Idaho Conference play for their seventh straight win Monday.

Nate Bruneel scored 19 points and Jake Bruner had a double-double as the College of Idaho men’s basketball team opened Cascade Conference play with a 72-63 win against Warner Pacific on Friday at J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

Alfredo Garcia pitched six innings and Boby Johnson, Braxton Lorenzini and Colton Hathcock each retired all three batters they faced, as the Boise Hawks beat the Vancouver Canadians 5-1 for their fourth win in a row.

The Boise Hawks got the potential tying run to second base in the ninth inning, but three straight strikeouts ended the game, as the Hawks fell 2-1 to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes on Thursday.
