Benedick’s Mavericks did it in fine style, too, handling the Centennial Patriots 50-7 in a 5A Southern Idaho Conference game.
Mountain View (6-1 overall, 6-1 SIC) remained a game behind leader Rocky Mountain. Centennial slipped to 2-5 and 2-5.
The Mavericks are now in sole possession of second place after Timberline upset Eagle 23-22.
The Mavericks cruised to a 36-7 lead by halftime after opening a 30-0 lead in the first quarter.
Quarterback Jake Farris completed 9-of-16 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns to lead Mountain View. Steven Butler rushed four times for 65 yards and two touchdowns.

VALLIVUE 57, RIDGEVUE 14: The Falcons (5-2, 4-2) cruised past the Warhawks (1-6, 1-5) in a 4A Southern Idaho Conference game.
Falcons quarterback Lan Larison rushed for 298 yards and three touchdowns and threw for two more touchdowns. Carson Child rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns.
Ridgevue was led by quarterback Santiago Albor, who threw for 201 yards and a touchdown.
IDAHO FALLS 49, COLUMBIA 22: The Tigers handled the visiting Wildcats (1-6) in a nonleague game.
HOMEDALE 58, PARMA 0: The Trojans (7-0, 2-0) continue to mow through opponents, this time clobbering the Panthers (1-6, 1-2) in a Snake River Valley game.
The Trojans used a 29-point outburst in the second quarter to take control.
