College of Idaho freshman Abigail Guinn was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Setter of the Week Monday.
The Nevada native rolled up 108 assists, 21 digs and seven blocks during the C of I Labor Day Classic — averaging 10.8 assists per set during the event. Guinn had a monster effort in the Yotes 4-set win over Hope International, recording 43 assists, 15 digs and three blocks.
YOTES' DUO NAMED PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: After sweeping a pair of Division III opponents on the road in Oregon, the College of Idaho claimed both the Cascade Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer weekly awards.
Parker Billings was honored as the Defensive Player of the Week, while Ben Bechor was named Offensive Player of the Week.
Billings, a junior from Boise, made eight big saves on Friday night in the Yotes' 3-1 victory at Linfield, He followed it up with a clean sheet vs. George Fox, turning away three shots on goal — including a penalty kick — in the C of I win.
Bechor, a junior from Modiin, Israel, was the offensive standout for the Yotes — scoring two goals under the lights at Linfield, following it up with a key insurance goal Sunday at GFU.
C OF I'S CALZARETTA IS FRONTIER CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: College of Idaho running back Nick Calzaretta was named Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
The junior recorded his third career 100-yard rushing game of his career in the season-opening 48-12 victory over Eastern Oregon.
Calzaretta rushed 18 times for 124 yards and a touchdown in the victory, helping the Yotes roll up 377 yards on the ground.
It marks the second time the California native has earned the weekly award from the conference.
