The College of Idaho volleyball team was ranked No. 12 in the preseason NAIA Volleyball Coaches Polls released Wednesday.

The Yotes received 320 votes from 18 voters and were one of four Cascade Conference teams in the Top-25. Southern Oregon will begin the season ranked No. 6, Eastern Oregon is No. 10, while Corban is ranked No. 19.

Two of the Yotes’ non-conference opponents are also ranked. Rocky Mountain is No. 13 and Providence is No. 21.

The Yotes, who are coming off a 24-10 season which saw them advance to bracket play at the NAIA National Championships, open the season at the Big Sky Volleyball Challenge Aug. 23-24 in Butte, Mont.

Park (Mo.) was the unanimous No. 1 team in the poll.

BOISE STATE BASEBALL COMPLETES 2020 ROSTER: The Boise State baseball team has its roster complete.

The team announced right-handed pitcher Jake Nelson has signed a Financial Aid Agreement and will join the team this fall. Nelson is a transfer from College of Southern Idaho, where he pitched eight games in 2016.

Battling back from injury, he made eight relief appearances this summer in the Golden State Collegiate Baseball League. He struck out 8.6 batters per nine innings for the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox.

Nelson is the 32nd player signed on to take the field next fall. Of those 32, 17 are position players and 15 are pitchers.
