Former Boise State cross country runner Marissa Howard finished second to earn the silver medal in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2019 Pan American Games on Saturday in Lima, Peru.

Howard finished in 9 minutes, 43.78 seconds — just two seconds behind winner Genevieve Lynn Lalonde of Canada.

A 2015 Boise State graduate, Howard was the 3,000 steeplechase Mountain West champion in 2013 and 2015. She earned first-team All-America honors in 2015.
