Last week an opinion contributor proffered a new emotion. “Serious laughing”
Americans need to stop “seriously laughing” at each other and regain mutual respect for what unites us, not what divides us.
“Serious laughing” can cause both our eyes and ears to close permanently.
Losing the willingness to listen to all sides could be fatal for us as a Nation.
Our experiment in Democracy is not immune from being lost if we fail to protect it as though our lives depend on it. They do.
There is no example in history where Democracy has survived as long as Oligarchies, Monarchies and Dictatorships. All have all enjoyed longer reigns than any Democratic society to date.
Ask yourself why this is and serious laughing should be stopped immediately.
American Democracy can be lost. (Other Democracies in Europe have already fallen since WWII.)
All it takes is to allow ourselves to become divided and conquered.
The divisive issues are already here. What is not so clear is who stands to benefit most by using these issues to pit Americans against each other.
Russians? Chinese? Deep State Conspirators? The “One-percenters”? Evil Immigrants? All or maybe none?
The daily onslaught of “opinion news offered as factual reporting” is eroding the glue which should be binding us together as Americans.
If we really want to make America great again we must retake the hallowed high ground of moral integrity, good faith and fair dealing which America has always aspired to stand for.
Our Presidential Oath of Office should be the oath for every American:
“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same”.
Wide eyed unbiased situational awareness is what America needs!
