Over the last few years I have attended many public hearings. The story is always the same. By the time the public gets to be “involved,” the big decisions have already been made. I will always support real, meaningful citizen involvement in the decisions that affect us all, and this includes bringing large, costly projects to the voters for their approval or rejection. House Bill 217 passed the House 59-11 and it has received much support from community members. The issues this bill addresses warrant discussion. I urge Senator Rice to hold a hearing on House Bill 217. This bill gives all voters in Idaho more of a say, not less.
