NAMPA - A vehicle stolen in Elmore County last week showed up in Canyon County Wednesday evening, according to Cpl. Jed Webb of the Nampa Police Department.
The stolen pickup truck was parked at a gas station on Garrity Boulevard for at least two days, Webb said. Elmore County authorities alerted local law enforcement after receiving a tip about the vehicle's location.
Elmore County authorities have identified the suspect as Vernon Ray Johnson, Jr., of Walla Walla, Wash. He is believed to be traveling with Myranda Raeann York, also of Walla Walla. Both are wanted fugitives in the state of Washington. They are also wanted in Milton Freewater, Ore., in connection with a high-speed chase and several vehicle thefts.
Johnson is considered armed and dangerous. Elmore County officials warn that those who think they've seen him should not approach, and should contact local law enforcement immediately.
Webb described Johnson as a white male with "a lot of tattoos." He believes the suspects are still in the area, he said, because no additional cars have been stolen in the past few days. He asks that residents remain vigilant for suspicious individuals.
Those with information regarding the suspects' whereabouts are asked to contact Elmore County Detective Nancy Jo Hawley at 590-0649 or the Milton Freewater Police Department at 541-938-5531.
