BOISE — Chelsi Ann Horton, Miss Caldwell Night Rodeo 2014, has been charged with grand theft on suspicion of embezzling around $22,000 from a former employer, Ada County Sheriff's Office officials said.
23-year-old Horton turned herself into the Ada County Jail Wednesday evening on the felony grand theft charge and left after posting a $10,000 bond.
During an investigation that began in April, Sheriff's Office detectives found evidence that Horton, who was working as a bookkeeper for a Canyon County-based company, paid herself more than what her salary was supposed to be between November 2012 and October 2013, including wages for overtime that she did not work, according to police.
A warrant for Horton's arrest was issued last week by Ada County Prosecutors. She is set to appear in court Aug. 20.
The crime of grand theft is punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
