MERIDIAN — The Ada County Coroner’s Office has named the 17-year-old boy who died after reportedly being struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon on Eagle Road.

Masen Burmester of Meridian was attempting to cross South Eagle Road at the Easy Jet Drive intersection when he was hit, according to an Ada County coroner’s press release. His cause of death was blunt force trauma due to a motor vehicle accident.

The crash occurred at 4:49 p.m. Tuesday, according to Meridian Police Lt. Jeff Brown. When police arrived, they found Burmester, who had been riding a non-motorized scooter, had been struck by the vehicle in the road.

First responders took him to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, where he was declared dead, according to the coroner’s office.

Brown did not identify the driver. The crash remains under investigation by the Meridian Police Department and the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.

Eric Exline, spokesman for the West Ada School District, told KTVB Burmester was a senior at Mountain View High School. Additional crisis counselors are assisting students who knew him.
