A new YMCA opened Friday in south Meridian, near Eagle and Amity roads. The YMCA shares a building with Hillsdale Elementary and a St. Luke’s clinic on over 20 acres next to a new city park.
The campus is called The Hill. The Meridian Library District will join later this year when it opens a “Tiny Library” in a repurposed storage container, focused on early literacy programs.
The 60,000-square-foot Y facility includes youth development centers, fitness areas, a large indoor family play-structure, gathering space, gyms and classrooms. Hillsdale Elementary students will use part of the gym during the school day.
“We view this innovative model of collaboration as one of the most momentous milestones in our Y’s 127-year history,” said David Duro, Treasure Valley Family YMCA president and CEO, in a press release.
The YMCA raised $18.5 million for the project.
