Meridian police said parents found a bag of rat poison in their child’s trick-or-treat bag.

MERIDIAN — Parents of a 7-year-old found rat poison in their child’s candy bag after the child was trick-or-treating in the Presidential subdivision off Eagle Road, according to the Meridian Police Department.

The child was unable to remember which house the small bag came from, the department said in a release. Police are urging parents whose children were trick-or-treating in the Presidential subdivision to sort through their child’s candy and contact the Meridian Police Department if they discover something similar.

The investigation is ongoing with no suspect at this time.
