The Boise Police Department identified one of the drivers involved in a July 2 traffic crash that resulted in the death of a 3-year-old girl.
Anna Mihelich, 53, of Boise, was driving an SUV southbound on South Orchard Street just after midnight, south of Diamond Street, according to a news release from the Boise Police Department.
At the same time, a van, driven by a 34-year-old woman, was headed north on Orchard Street. Odalys Martinez, 3, of Nampa, was one of the passengers in the van, along with an 8-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy.
The two vehicles collided, although police have not yet said what caused the crash. First responders took everyone involved in the crash to the hospital.
Odalys died of her injuries about 8:45 p.m. Monday, according to a news release from the Ada County Coroner’s Office. The 8-year-old and the 16-year-old remain in the hospital, according to the Boise Police Department.
The driver of the SUV received minor injuries and is cooperating with police, according to the department. Officers are waiting on the result of toxicology reports, which could take several weeks to complete. No charges have been filed as of yet, according to the Boise Police Department’s statement.
