GARDEN CITY — Three missing California children have been found living in a tool shed in Garden City with their mother, officials announced.
The district attorney’s office in Tulare County, in central California, said in a press release that Jayde Skye Burgoyne and her children were found July 29 living in the shed.
Burgoyne is accused of leaving California with the children — ages 1, 2 and 3 — in May, in violation of a court order, according to the press release. The Tulare County District Attorney’s Child Abduction Unit investigated after learning Burgoyne and the children had gone missing.
Investigators in California worked with the Garden City Police Department for weeks, and on July 29 found Burgoyne living with the children in a tool shed in Garden City with no running water.
“The conditions of their living situation were so extreme that Burgoyne is currently under investigation by the Garden City Police Department for child endangerment,” according to the release.
Investigators then flew back to California with the children, and reunited them with their court-appointed guardian, according to the release.
