KUNA — The Kuna Boys and Girls Club Committee and the city of Kuna will host a community meeting to discuss the club’s proposed complex at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Kuna High School Commons.
There will be presentations on what the complex will include and where it will be located, as well as the funding model for the construction. Residents will be able to review some preliminary concept drawings, ask questions and provide input on the proposed facility. Refreshments will be provided, and tickets will be given to all participants 18 years and older for door prizes including $300 cash and gift certificates to local businesses. Participants must be present to win.
The proposed Kuna Recreation Center/Pool complex is not meant to be a place where community members go to exercise but a community center where they can gather to socialize, hold community education classes, have meetings for groups and organizations and enjoy special events whether they be a child’s birthday party or a community event.
The city of Kuna hopes to put the option of creating a Recreation District to fund the recreation center and swimming pool before the voters next year. Many signatures are still needed on the Recreation District petitions so that it can be put on the ballot for a May vote.
Petitions can be signed at City Hall (763 W. Avalon, Kuna) and many area businesses. A participant must live within the Kuna School District boundaries and be registered voters to be eligible to sign the petition. Residents who are not registered to vote can go to www.idahovotes.gov to get registered.
