BOISE — One city council member is hoping Boise will cap rental application fees, but a statewide interest group is lobbying against it.

The Idaho Apartment Association, a group that advocates for rental property managers, has come out against a proposal from Boise City Councilwoman Lisa Sánchez to put restrictions on rental application fees. Details of the ordinance are still in development; she is considering capping fees at $35 and restricting landlords from taking more application fees than they have units available.
