NAMPA — A 71-year-old former Nampa teacher pleaded guilty to one count of lewd conduct with a minor as part of a plea deal he took last week.

Keith Odell Peterson was arrested in April following a Nampa Police investigation. The victim in the case, who was not a student of Peterson's, told police Peterson inappropriately touched him on multiple occasions for a year-and-a-half.

Peterson was initially charged with one count of lewd conduct with a minor under 16 and sexual battery of a minor. He pleaded guilty Oct. 23 to lewd conduct with a minor as part of a plea deal, according to the Idaho online courts repository.

Peterson was a teacher in the Nampa School District several years ago, according to a previous Idaho Press report, and because of that, police at the time were concerned there may be more victims. He was granted withheld judgement in a 1990 case where he had inappropriate sexual contact with a different victim, according to an Idaho Press report from May.

A sentencing has been set for Dec. 18 at the Canyon County Courthouse.
