BOISE — The Ada County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died after an apparent climbing accident Tuesday afternoon southeast of Boise.

Peter Kraines, 33, of North Carolina, was pronounced dead at 5:41 p.m., according to a news release from the office. The cause of death is listed as blunt force trauma. Patrick Orr, spokesman for the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, said Tuesday deputies and paramedics received the 911 call just after 4 p.m. Kraines was climbing in the Black Cliffs area, just off of Highway 21, according to the coroner’s release. Orr said deputies believe he fell about 40 feet.

The death is still under investigation. Orr said deputies believe an equipment error caused the fall.
