The parents of a 4-year-old girl killed in a car fire in a Walmart parking lot in April have been arrested, according to the Boise Police Department.
The Ada County Coroner’s Office identified the child killed as Alliee Rose, 4, of Boise. Rose was found deceased April 10 after the car caught on fire and was fully engulfed when emergency personnel responded to a parking lot on the 8300 block of West Overland Road.
Two others, an adult female and a toddler who were asleep in the car, were injured in the fire, according to police.
During the investigation, the toddler who survived the fire was found to be in the presence of a controlled substance, according to Boise Police. Rose’s mother, Jennifer Miller, 31, of Boise is charged with felony injury to a child.
Previously, officials reported evidence indicated the cause of the fire was from a portable heating device inside the car. Police say the device is believed to have been stolen from a local business. The father, Nicolas Rose, 26, of Boise is charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor petit theft.
The investigation into the fire remains ongoing pending toxicology results.
“This is a tragic situation and one that pains all of us to respond to and even hear about,” said Boise Police Capt. Ron Winegar in April. “Our hearts go out to the family who lost a child today.”
