CALDWELL — A Nampa-based storage distribution company is expanding into Caldwell’s Sky Ranch Business Park.

Sheppard/Wood Distributors plans to operate out of a roughly 30,000-square-foot industrial space in Sky Ranch at 4320 Challenger Way. This will be its second Canyon County location; the company already occupies a 40,000-square-foot warehouse in downtown Nampa at 4 Ninth Ave. S.

Sheppard/Wood’s services include public and contract warehousing, local delivery within 500 miles, dock facilities, cross docking and material handling, according to the business’ website.

“We store product for other businesses who either don’t have enough space at their own location, or they don’t have a presence for a Treasure Valley location but they have customers here,” said Barb Gunning, owner of Sheppard/Wood.

Gunning said she was drawn to the Caldwell location because of its proximity to Interstate 84 and because it has additional docks.

“It was a nice building,” Gunning said. “It’s a good facility for us.”

Sheppard/Wood will begin moving into the new facility in September, Gunning said. The distribution company works with several local businesses, including AMVAC Chemical Corporation in Marsing and AIRE in Meridian.

Early this month, Bennett Investment Properties, LLC purchased 60,000 square feet of industrial space in Sky Ranch, which included the space leased out by Sheppard/Wood. The building was designed to be divided up for different companies to use, according to Steve Fultz, Caldwell’s economic development director.

Fultz said the building has been vacant for a while and was formerly home to Idaho Packaging Company, which relocated to Fruitland to be closer to its customer base.

“Obviously we are excited to have a business occupying that space,” Fultz said.
