CANYON COUNTY — The Internal Revenue Service recorded two tax liens against former Canyon County Prosecutor John Bujak this week, according to county records.
The liens for corporate and payroll taxes for 2007 and 2008 total $4,856.
The liens are associated with Bujak Law, Bujak’s legal firm before he became Canyon County prosecutor. The payroll tax lien is for $4,233.33 and the corporate lien is for $623.
Bujak resigned as county prosecutor Sept. 30 after he was unable to pay $288,000 he owed the county for public resources used in his prosecution services contract with Nampa.
In 2009 Bujak’s home was in foreclosure and he owed taxes. Last summer he said an agreement had been reached on his house and the tax debt was satisfied.
Boise attorney Michael Kane will represent the county in an effort to recoup the money Bujak owes the county.
