MERIDIAN — Officials broke ground on a 10,000-square-foot fitness center in Ten Mile Crossing Wednesday.
Three-time Olympic gold medalist Kristin Armstrong and her husband, Joe Savola, announced a partnership with development companies BVA Development, Brighton Corporation and SCS Development to build and operate PIVOT KA Lifestyle + Fitness, according to a release.
The membership-based fitness center will offer classes and programs to individuals, as well as corporate health programs. Opening this type of facility has been a longtime goal for Armstrong, she said.
“Our mission will be to foster a community environment and sense of belonging where people are personally empowered to achieve their goals,” she said in the release.
Ten Mile Crossing is a mixed-use office and retail development on the northeast corner of Interstate 84 and Ten Mile Road in Meridian.
Current and announced tenants include Paylocity, AmeriBen, Horrocks Engineering, BVA Development and Brighton Corporation.
The groundbreaking kicked off construction of three additional buildings: a 10,000-square-foot home for PIVOT, a 7,800-square-foot home for Foothill Physical Therapy and Heart ‘n Home Hospice, and a 4,000-square-foot building for Unity Health Center.
“Teaming with Kristin has been a dream come true,” Tommy Ahlquist, CEO of BVA, said in the release, “and together our goal is to inspire, encourage and empower companies and individuals to PIVOT no matter where they are in their journey of health.”
