Tyler Blake and his wife, Marina Blake, are changing the way the Treasure Valley eats and thinks of pizza — that is, if residents think of pizza as a flat, triangle meal.

Tyler has been serving pizza in a cone since opening a food cart in November 2016. That cart transitioned into a food truck in April 2017, which transitioned into a physical location this month.

Tyler and Marina’s restaurant, Coned, will hold a grand opening on April 7 at its new Meridian location, 2976 E. Overland Road, Ste. 110.

Tyler makes soft dough cones and inside layers cheese, tomato sauce and other ingredients, like pepperoni, pork sausage, onions or chicken. He then bakes the ingredients in the cone.

According to Tyler, each cone is equivalent to two slices of pizza.

The coned-style of pizza originated in Italy, Tyler said. He and Marina decided to bring it to Idaho after reading about it.

Coned started selling cones with ice cream days before the grand opening.

“Everyone sees the cone and assumes it is ice cream,” Tyler said.

Tyler said the ice cream comes from STIL, a locally-owned ice cream shop in downtown Boise.

Tyler said he will continue to attend events like the Boise Music Festival, Pride Fest and Boise State games with his food truck to serve cones.

At the grand opening, Coned will be giving away raffle tickets for plane tickets to Los Angeles and two day passes to Disneyland, as well free shirts and gift cards. Bella Brewing will also be serving free beer while supplies last, Tyler said.
