The collection of Meridian youth who make up the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council have a history of working with lawmakers to pass legislation. Last year the council was responsible for legislation that lowered the minimum organ donor age from 16 to 15 years old for living donors with parental consent.

This year, the youth council plans to present statewide legislation that would allow 17-year-olds to vote in primary of a midterm or presidential election if they will be 18 by the time of the general election.
