The Meridian Police Department swore in six police officers at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. The new officers are Matthew Enderlin, Steven Hansen, James Shackelford, Sean McDonald, Robert Stewart and Mitchell Littleton.
The department also announced the addition of a code enforcement supervisor, Rich Everett, and an evidence technician, Megan Moeller, during the Council meeting.
“This is the highlight of the job responsibilities for me as chief,” Meridian Police Chief Jeff Lavey said.
Lavey said the department has four more positions to fill, not including the eight new hires City Council approved funding for starting in fiscal year 2019.
Those include a public safety public information officer, a crime prevention specialist, two data clerks and four community service officers.
Mayor Tammy de Weerd thanked the new officers’ families.
“We will do everything we can to give them the tools they need and the training they need,” she said.
