Downtown Meridian’s new outdoor concert series Playin’ in the Plaza has launched for the summer.

City Hall will host live performances from 5 to 8 p.m. every Thursday from June 13 to July 25, excluding July 4. There will be food trucks, market vendors, and beer and wine.

This year the event is featuring mostly local bands of various genres. Organizers have set aside an area specifically for dancing, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs if they plan to sit during the performance.

The performance schedule is:

June 13 — Red Light Challenge with Soma Stein

n June 20 — Delta Mud with Tom Taylor
