MERIDIAN — The Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine, or ICOM, is hosting a Sexual Assault Awareness Walk from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20 in Meridian.

This walk will benefit Speak Your Silence, a Boise-based organization that supports survivors of sexual assault and abuse.

The event will feature two speakers from Speak Your Silence and an interactive activity that follows the experience of an individual after experiencing a sexual assault.

During the race, participants will have the opportunity to race in the opposite gender’s shoes. The event will wrap up with a race between ICOM professors Mark Slivkoff, Stephanie Child and Brad Chadwell.

The walk is being put on by ICOM’s American Medical Women’s Association and Future Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Because the event falls on Easter weekend, ICOM will also be hosting an Easter egg hunt for families with children following the final race.
