Melba girls track & field named 2A District III winners

The Melba girls dominated in the 1A/2A District III Track & Field meet. The Mustangs finished with 196.5 points. The next closest team was McCall-Donnelly at 140.

Emma Clark and Kylahn Heritage led the way with two titles apiece. Clark won in the triple jump and the pole vault. Heritage took first in the 800 and the 1,600.

Emily Oldham (discus) and the 4x200 relay team of Kate Clark, Jordan Dayley, Telissa Christensen and Kortney Trappett also won championships for Melba.

Melba track & field heads to the state championships at Middleton High School May 17-18.

The Melba softball team is advancing to the state championships thanks to a Saturday 11-1 win against St. Maries. After a difficult district tournament, the Mustangs (20-2) awoke in time to earn a 2A state berth in a play-in game.

Pitcher Cindy Reed threw a five-hitter, striking out five. Andrina Webster led the Mustangs at the plate, going 2 for 2 with four RBI.

Melba softball will compete in the state championships at Moscow High School May 17-18.

NEW PLYMOUTH 14, MELBA 7, 8 INNINGS: The Pilgrims clinched a state berth and advanced to the district title game, knocking off the top-seeded Mustangs by scoring eight runs in the eighth inning Friday, May 10.


Melba will compete in the state championships at Orofino High School May 16-18.
