November 25th is a day that will be forever engraved into our minds; that is the day that we were given the most difficult news that we as parents have ever had to face.
Our son Beckham was diagnosed with DIPG, an aggressive and rare brain tumor located in Beckham’s brain stem. We won’t talk about statistics or out-comes, but suffice it to say that we are taking every moment we can to live, laugh, and most importantly love.
We just finished up 30 days of ration therapy at St. Luke’s MSTI and we wanted to take a moment and thank all of our friends and family for their love, prayers, and support.
First of all thank you so much to St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital and St. Luke’s MSTI doctors, nurses, and staff. Your kind words, warm smiles, and dedication to our family was a calm in the storm. Every day we drove home talking about how amazing everyone there was. Beckham even told us he was sad that he wouldn’t being going back because he loved everyone there.
Thank you to Melba elementary, middle and high schools for not only teaching Beckham but for being his friend. He comes home every day talking about how much fun he had at school. We also can’t say enough for Beckham’s class mates and teachers; they are true angels among us. Our hearts were touched to see the whole staff at one of Beckham’s treatments.
A special thanks to the high school students for your penny drive and the basketball teams for showing your support.
A big thanks to the Garden City Police who made Beckham one of their own and came in on a Saturday, dedicating their time, to bring the biggest smile to Beckham’s face. What a truly special day to see Beckham dressed up as a cop, lights and sirens blaring, to take down the Grinch who stole Christmas.
Thank you to Saint Al’s Nampa and Caldwell for showing your support.
Thank you to Melba 3rd ward for making our Christmas a little brighter by decorating our home.
Thank you to our friends and family for helping with all the little things that to us are big things.
Thank you to all those of you who sent letters and cards for Beckham to read. Thank you to all who sent care packages and gift cards.
Thank you to everyone who got a Brave Beckham shirt. Keep sending us those selfies.
Thank you everyone who donated on youCaring site.
And most of all thanks to the countless prayers on Beckham’s behalf. We can truly feel the healing power of your faith.
This has been a crazy month for us and we thank everyone who has helped and has made things a little less crazy. There are angels among us; that is obvious to us. Please continue to pray for Beckham.
