New UI president Scott Green greets campus at welcome bbq

University of Idaho community gathers in the Idaho Commons to welcome the new president, C. Scott Green, right.

More than 600 turned out to welcome the University of Idaho’s 19th and newest president, Scott Green, for a barbecue and meet-and-greet Tuesday, hosted in the school’s Idaho Commons building, the Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports today. A third-generation Vandal and former UI student body president, Green said he couldn’t have asked for a better homecoming.

“I grew up here, so for me, it’s not a big transition, it is really coming home,” Green said. “I just love it — from the moment I got on this campus ... I’ve just been smiling from ear to ear.”
