Christmas Sweetheart Ball

Sweetheart Ball, social highlight of the Christmas season will be presented Friday night of next week, Dec. 20 at the high school gymnasium under auspices of the senior band. Table reservations around the dance floor are open to the public, and traditionally a large crowd goes to the balcony to watch the floor sow at which the Sweetheart chosen by band vote will be revealed. The intermission floor show, a dance of the sweetheart candidates, is being coached for the tenth consecutive year by Mrs. Harmon Holverson. Sawmill Christmas party slated with dance, program and Santa

The traditional mill Christmas party is scheduled Saturday, Dec. 21 under sponsorship of Union Local 2816 according to Raymond Rynerason, chairman.

Dancing for the sawmill workers and guests will be at the Liberty Theater and is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.

The children’s program will begin at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium with Santa Claus to distribute treats following a talent show.

Directing the show is Mrs. Burl Jones who invites those with talent who wish to appear on the show to contact her. She also stated she would appreciate any assistance in recruiting talent.

drills and with 24 teachers participating in directing will be presented Tuesday and Tuesday evenings of next week at the Butteview School multi-purpose room beginning at 7 p.m. according to Brooks Carpenter, school principal and production cocoordinator.

All students in grades one through six will take part. Carpenter said the general public is invited. There will be no admission charge.

The Christmas program will open with fifth and sixth grade choir under direction of Dan Cantrall, which will be followed by the junior band under the direction of Ernie Carr.
