The University of Idaho Extension office serving Gem and Boise counties, welcomed a new 4-H Program Coordinator on June 24, 2019. Chane’ Nelson comes to the position with several years of 4-H experience as both a member and a volunteer in the Canyon and Ada County 4-H programs. She has also worked with 4-H Promotions at the Western Idaho Fair since 2012. Chane’ graduated from Eastern Oregon University and Oregon State University with a bachelor’s degree of Integrated Studies with a focus on Geology, Soil Science, and Agricultural Science. She enjoys being outside, camping, fishing, rock hunting, working on cars and getting her hands dirty. She’s also been known to say that she loves the county fair so having her start a little over a month before fair time seemed all but appropriate. In her role as the 4-H Program Coordinator, Chane’ will have primary duties of recruiting and training volunteers, providing support to existing clubs and families, and planning and conducting 4-H events and outreach across Gem and Boise counties.
