The Gem County Festival of Trees is returning to Emmett next month after a one-year absence. The event that has multiple layers of community participation and support ultimately goes to benefit programs at the Gem County Senior Community Center.

All trees to be decorated are already claimed and plans and designs underway to have them ready for public viewing and bidding on November 13. The tree “auction” on November 13 will take place at the Senior Center with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the auction to begin at 7 p.m. Fourteen trees with varying themes will be presented.

The week following the auction the trees will remain on display at the Senior Center for the public to view, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. A special VIP showing of the trees is slated for Wednesday, Nov. 17 with ornaments being made available for kids to take home and decorate.

The week of visitation will end with a Gala dinner on Nov. 20th that is already sold out. On the final Saturday the trees will remain open for public viewing from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. with Santa on hand for visits with kids who have their Christmas wish lists ready. The Gala dinner after closing will feature a dessert auction for those in attendance.
