The Daughters of the American Revolution are inviting the public to join the local chapter on Sept. 17 to participate in a bell ringing celebration of the Constitution of the United States of America.
Constitution Day is September 17 to commemorate the formation and signing on September 17, 1787, of the Constitution and recognize all who, by coming of age or by naturalization, have become citizens.
September 17-23 has been designated as Constitution Week nationwide and will be proclaimed as such in Emmett by Mayor Gordon Petrie in the high noon program at the Gem County Museum on the Friday, the 17th.
Everyone is encouraged to bring your own bell and participate as “Gem County lets Freedom Ring” according to event organizers.
If you can’t make it to the museum you are encouraged to get your bells, go outside at noon, and make Emmett “ring” for one whole minute.
The Gem County Museum is located at 501 E. 1st Street, behind Emmett City Hall.
