As you may know, advertising revenue covers all of our costs. In order to ensure we are able to cover important stories, we have developed a program to create a group of subscribers (much like those who support public TV and public radio) to help further our ability to doggedly pursue the truth. This outreach is part of a strategic initiative to strengthen the sustainability and health of independent alternative media through citizen-supported journalism. That's where you come in.

We are passionate about independence, truth and the business of journalism. The latter is often seen in opposition to its mission, but the fact is, everything starts with the editorial product—journalism is what matters most. It is critical to both the democratic process and free markets, and that is the philosophical underpinning of what we work for everyday at Boise Weekly. Without brave, independent media and the ability for the ever-shrinking number of journalists to seek the truth, freedom as we now it would cease to exist. That may sound dire, but as Thomas Jefferson said: "...freedom of the press is the first shut up by those who fear the investigation of their actions." We're all in this together. We are driven by a deep sense of responsibility to sustain independent media and educate others of its importance. The ability to do so is becoming increasingly difficult in the changing landscape of journalism and media, which is why we are asking for your support by becoming a BW Watchdog. Your confidentiality is protected and the source of contributions provided will not be disclosed.
