Dear Minerva:

When you’ve been close friends for so long, when things go wrong in life, you don’t abandon them. Sure, we all have “fair weather” but what do you do when someone who was a “thick and thin” friend just disappears at one of the hardest points in your life? The absence felt weird and there were excuses made — though I didn’t pry. It seemed too bizarrely glaring to say anything. Am I supposed to just pretend it didn’t happen. Do I just accept the excuses?
