Only about an hour away from Boise and 15 miles from Mountain Home, Bruneau Dunes State Park is a fun day trip. The park is 4,800 acres and features the largest single-structured sand dune in North America. Vehicles aren't allowed on the dunes but people can hike up and slide down, like sledding but sandier. The park also has a series of acrid looking, but beautiful ponds and lakes, and marshlands that are home to water fowl. It's only $7 per vehicle to go to the park and cabins and campsites are also available. People can get more information on their website, parksandrecreation.idaho.gov.
