There Is No Mountain played a couple of songs at The District Coffee House on March 26, and then singer-percussionist Kali Giaritta admitted something to the audience: She said she was nervous before going on stage. She asked singer-guitarist Matt Harmon how he felt.

"I wish I had some hair to hide behind," the clean-shaven Harmon said. "But I'm good."

The Portland, Ore.-based experimental-pop duo didn't sound nervous, though. Between songs, the two joked around and told stories and during the performance, Giaritta's sweet, strong voice was completely assured, as was her nimble drumming. Harmon played fast, intricate riffs on his guitar without stumbling.

"While you live, shine," Giaritta and Harmon sang. "Have no grief at all."
