Text Messages, the newest exhibit by the Treasure Valley Artists' Alliance, is full of works that have one thing in common—the presence of text.

Emphasizing the aesthetic nature of text, the exhibit includes more than 50 pieces of local mixed media art on display. The art show is larger than one might expect, with pieces hanging across multiple hallways and stretching out under the atrium of the Boise State Public Radio offices at 220 E. Parkcenter Blvd. The show is a reminder that, at their core, the symbols and devices that we use to string together poems, stories and all manners of the written word are, themselves, pieces of art.

If you didn't catch the show's opening reception on Jan. 20, no worries. It will run through Thursday, April 5 and is open to the public for viewing every weekday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In the mean time, check out the slideshow below.
