BSU Spring Game

Boise State coach Bryan Harsin smiles after the first team offense scores in Saturday’s spring game at Albertsons Stadium.

The Boise State football landed at No. 22 in the preseason USA TODAY Coaches Poll released Thursday morning.

Oklahoma State, Boise State's opponent in week three, came in at No. 25.

The Broncos are the top-ranked team from a Group of Five conference, but barely. Boise State had 261 points to rank No. 22, while Central Florida had 259 points and was No. 23.

It's the ninth time in the past 17 years that Boise State will open the season in the Top 25. They were not ranked in either the Coaches or AP polls to start last season, but got as high as No. 23 before a loss to Fresno State to finish the regular season. They finished No. 22 in the final Coaches Poll of 2017.

Boise State has now been ranked at some point in the season in either the AP or Coaches Poll for 17 consecutive years.

The Associated Press preseason poll will be out later this month.

Boise State opens practice on Friday, and will hold a Media Day with the coaching staff later today. Check back to BlueTurfSports.com for full video interviews, news that comes out and more.
