College of Idaho women’s golfer Baylee Borchers shot a final round 80 to hold off Concordia’s Madison Alamillo and earn medalist honors at the Northwest Christian Invitational at Springfield Country Club on Tuesday.
The senior, who took a three-shot lead into the final round, recorded a 54-hole total of 233 (plus-17) to win by two strokes.
The win for Borchers was her third of the season and pulled her into second place in the Cascade Conference individual standings.
Borchers helped C of I place second in the seven-team event.
C of I’s Gabby Giesbrecht earned a top-10 finish, placing ninth with a three-round score of 253.
C OF I MEN’S GOLFER DELOREY FINISHES SIXTH: College of Idaho senior Kyle DeLorey carded his third-straight 2-over 74 and placed sixth overall at the Northwest Christian Invitational at Springfield Country Club on Tuesday.
DeLorey recorded the third-lowest 54-hole score (plus-6) in program history.
The Coyotes finished sixth overall in the seven team field with a three-round total of 960 — 90 strokes behind team champion, Concordia.
Kasey Allen was the only other C of I golfer to finish in the top-30 after shooting a final round 83.
C OF I WOMEN’S TENNIS BLANKS TREASURE VALLEY CC: The College of Idaho women’s tennis team rolled to a 7-0 victory over Treasure Valley CC in the Yotes lone home match of the 2014 season.
The top doubles’ team of Allie Boyd and Emily Tesnohlidek cruised to an 8-3 victory over Vanessa Adams and Hannah Farmer. Both also logged singles’ victories, with Tesnohlidek defeating Farmer at No. 2 in straight sets and Boyd topping Karin Adams at No. 3 in straight sets.
BSU’s Martin Finishes Tied for First at Cowgirl Classic: Boise State sophomore women’s golfer Samantha Martin fired a final-round 1-under 71 to earn a share of medalist honors at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Tuesday.
Martin’s three-round total of 1-under 215 is the second-lowest in school history, and placed her in a three-way tie for first.
In addition to the sub-par final round, Martin also set the school record with a 4-under 68 in the second round of the tournament on Monday.
