College Roundup: Ballenger’s 3-pointer lifts Coyote men to victory

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — College of Idaho men's basketball player Matt Ballenger (Skyview High) sank a 3-pointer with three seconds remaining to lift the Coyotes past NAIA Division I No. 9-ranked Westminister Collge, 55-52 at the Westminster Holiday Classic.
Leading the Coytoes was Craig McGee (21 points, seven rebounds) and Ballenger (16 points, seven boards).
NNU will play Carroll College at 5:30 p.m. today.
C of I women roll past Whitman
CALDWELL — The College of Idaho women's basketball team defeated Whitman College, 66-48 on Friday in the 10th Annual Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic.
Leading the Coyotes (3-2) was Nicole Gall, who had 22 points, eight assists, and seven steals and seven rebounds.
The Coyotes face Puget Sound today at 5 p.m. for the title.
Crusaders down UC-Colorado Springs by 21 points
NAMPA — The Northwest Nazarene University men's basketball team defeated UC-Colorado Springs 81-60 on Friday night in the NNU Thanksgiving Classic.
Leading NNU (2-0) was Anthony Golden (19 points) and both Lateef Williams and Kendall Gielow scored 12.
Hein sparks Crusaders win
NAMPA — The Northwest Nazarene University women's basketball team defeated Cal State Stanislaus, 79-58 in the NNU Thanksgiving Classic on Friday.
Leading NNU was Kristin Hein (18 points, 14 rebounds).
The Crusaders play Colorado Christian (2-3) today at 5:15 p.m.
Vandals can't handle Baylor
WACO, Texas — Melissa Jones scored a career-high 23 points and had 11 rebounds and No. 8 Baylor held Idaho to six second-half field goals in an 82-37 victory Saturday night.
Morghan Medlock scored 12 and Shanay Washington scored 10 for Baylor (4-1), which began the second half on a 16-4 run.
Bianca Cheever scored 11 for Idaho (0-4)
