College roundup: Coyote women win running title

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Two-time Cascade Conference cross country champion Stephanie Helm finished third in 18 minutes, 3 seconds, leading the College of Idaho women to a repeat as team champs Saturday at the Cascade Conference championship meet, and an automatic berth to the NAIA National meet.
Tegan Troutner was fourth (18:41) and Molli-Lee Painter fifth (18:45) for the Yotes.
The C of I men took second to Southern Oregon in their race, with Greg Montgomery fourth (25:04) and Paul Sartin eighth (25:10). The C of I men will wait to see if they receive an at-large berth at nationals.
NNU teams sixth, seventh at regional
SAN FRANCISCO — Barak Watson finished 11th overall, helping the Northwest Nazarene men's cross country team take seventh at the West Regional meet on Saturday.
Watson clocked a time of 32 minutes, 29.8 seconds, earning all-region honors and qualifying for the NCAA Division II National Championship meet.
Jaclyn Puga led the NNU women, who took sixth. Puga was 24th overall in 22:16.
C of I volleyball will host conference tournament
CALDWELL — Four College of Idaho senior hitters combined for 33 kills and 14 blocks, as the Lady Yotes clinched their fourth-consecutive Cascade Conference regular-season championship with a 25-18, 25-15, 25-14 victory over Warner Pacific inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
With the win, the No. 8 ranked Lady Yotes (22-2, 17-1 CCC) earned the right to host the 2009 Cascade Conference Tournament, beginning Friday.
Crusaders men's soccer falls 5-1 at Seattle Pacific
SEATTLE — Drew Williams scored two goals and seniors Alec Nelson and Corey Sinser each had one in the final home game of their careers as Seattle Pacific ended its regular season with a 5-1 victory against Northwest Nazarene Saturday at Interbay Stadium.
Idaho State volleyball defeats Sac St. for first time
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Idaho State (11-14, 5-8 Big Sky) closed out its final road game of the season with its first road victory over Sacramento State (15-13, 5-7) in program history.
C of I men's soccer team ends season
OLYMPIA, Wash. — The College of Idaho men's soccer team late season slide continued this afternoon, as the Yotes dropped a 2-0 decision at Evergreen State, in both teams season finale.
