Panthers, Trojans will meet today

RATHDRUM — Kayla VanderStelt had 32 kills and 21 digs as the Nampa Christian volleyball team won two matches on Friday, to move within one win of the 2A state championship game.

The Trojans beat Soda Springs 25-9, 25-16, 25-22 in the morning before topping Butte County 25-15, 25-19, 25-9.

Jessica Bartlow had 56 assists in the two matches, including 31 in the win against Butte County.

Nampa Christian will play Parma at noon today, with the winner moving on to the state championship round, held later in the day.

Panthers advance

RATHDRUM — Parma defeated both Grace and West Jefferson in four sets on Friday at Lakeland High, earning a semifinal berth today against Nampa Christian at noon.

Parma downed Grace, 25-12, 18-25, 25-12, 25-20. Leading the way was Kali Roche (29 kills, 13 blocks), Alli Nielsen (11 kills, 10 blocks), Alysha Rohrbacher (38 assists, 16 digs) and Destra Gentry (20 digs).

In the victory against West Jefferson (25-21, 25-27, 25-22, 25-22), the Panthers were led by Roche (23 kills, 10 blocks), Nielsen (17 kills, 10 digs), Becca Cox (nine blocks), Rohrbacher (25 assists) and Gentry (12 digs).

"We had some close games within the match," Parma coach Kamille Crawford said. "We're excited for our game (today) against Nampa Christian."
