Thursday: We Shot the Moon w/ My Paper Camera, Apple Horse, We Won the Science Fair

Where you know them: This San Diego-based band, led by former Waking Ashland frontman Jonathan Jones on vocals/piano, specializes in "quirky rock." Jones says the band possesses shades of Coldplay, Switchfoot, Muse, and Weezer. Their new LP hits stores Nov. 17.

Why you should go: We Shot the Moon is a piano/heavy indie rock quartet that's virtually impossible to compare to any other band out there ... not for more than a track of two, at least.  The band's music is layered, thick and replete with ambient noise. "We don't fit in to the super indie hipster crowd," admits Jones. "We're not gimmicky — we're real, we hit wrong notes live and that's ok."

The lowdown: We Shot the Moon joins three other groups for Thursday's concert that starts at 6:30 p.m. at The Venue, downtown Boise. Tickets are $10 at ticketweb.com, 965-4827 or 466-8499.
