Where you know them: Radin never intended to be a professional musician. He studied drawing and painting at Northwestern University and had stints as an art teacher, screenwriter, and art gallery employee. He eventually took a stab at songwriting and played one of his earliest compositions, "Winter," for burgeoning actor/director and friend Zach Braff. It wound up on Braff's hit TV show "Scrubs in 2004. Radin's debut album "We Were Here, in 2006 prompted a move to Los Angeles and he has since become a regular on the Hotel Café national tours.
Why you should go: If Radin isn't reason enough; you'll want to check out the soulful, groove-heavy Watson Twins who open the show. The twins, Chandra and Leigh, have established themselves as leaders of a movement that embraces traditional American sounds while still breaking new ground.
The lowdown: Tickets are $16/advance, $18/at the door and $40/platinum skybox for Radin and The Watson Twins' 8 p.m. show at the Knitting Factory, downtown Boise; available at 435-9849, The Record Exchange, www.Ticketfly.com or www.KnittingFactory.com
