With a 45-7 rout of San Jose State on Saturday, the Boise State Broncos' record stayed intact, and when the latest Bowl Championship Series standings were released Sunday, so did their No. 7 ranking.
Boise State stayed in seventh, and TCU, the highest ranked team outside of the six automatic BCS-qualifying conferences, remained at No. 6.
Big East leader Cincinnati jumped from No. 8 to No. 5, aided by Oregon's rout of then-BCS No. 5 USC on Saturday. The Ducks, who Boise State beat Sept. 3, moved up from No. 10 to No. 8.
Florida held onto the top spot, while Texas vaulted past idle Alabama to No. 2. The Crimson Tide are No. 3, and Iowa is No. 4.
In the Associated Press poll, Boise State is No. 5, moving up from No. 6. Cincinnati is fourth, TCU is sixth and Oregon is seventh. In the USA Today coaches' poll, the Broncos remained at No. 5, while TCU jumped from sixth to fourth. Idaho received two points in the AP poll and eight in the USA Today poll.
Of the seven undefeated teams remaining, Boise State is the lowest ranked in the BCS. The Broncos and the two teams ahead of them are closely bunched together – Cincinnati's BCS average is .8033, TCU's is .8008 and Boise State's is .7863.
The three components of the BCS are the USA Today coaches' poll, the Harris poll and a set of computer rankings.
Boise State is fifth in the coaches' poll, fourth in the Harris and eighth in the computer rankings.
ESPN.com's latest bowl projections by writers Mark Schlabach and Bruce Feldman have the Broncos playing in the Fiesta Bowl — Schlabach forecasts the Broncos to face TCU and Feldman forecasts them to face Penn State.
Cincinnati, TCU and Oregon each play one team currently ranked the rest of the season — Cincinnati plays at No. 14 Pittsburgh on Dec. 5, TCU hosts No. 17 Utah on Nov. 14, and Oregon plays at No. 21 Arizona on Nov. 21. Boise State plays two teams with winning records in its final five games at home — Idaho on Nov. 14 and Nevada on Nov. 27.
Moore still most efficient
Boise State sophomore quarterback Kellen Moore remained atop the national rankings with his game Saturday. He completed 21-of-33 passes for 278 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
His passer efficiency rating is 171.02, with Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen second at 164.25. Moore has 24 touchdowns on 227 attempts — which is 10.57 percent of his throws. No other quarterback in the nation who has thrown 15 or more passes per game has a higher percentage than 8.24.
Red zone defense among best
The Broncos allowed an 11-yard touchdown pass from Jordan La Secla to Marquis Avery on Saturday for the Spartans' only score. It was just the eighth time an opponent has scored in the Broncos' red zone. Opponents have gotten inside the Boise State 20-yard line just 12 times this season — their 67 percent success rate is tied for fourth nationally.
