FRUITLAND, Idaho (AP) — Authorities in southwestern Idaho say a Fruitland police officer shot a man but are releasing few details.

Authorities say the officer has been placed on routine paid administrative leave following the shooting on Thursday. The officer's name has not been released.

Police say the man who was shot was transported to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. His name and condition have not been released.

Fruitland police say the officer responded to a residence in Payette County after receiving a report of a man at the residence threatening to kill another person.

Idaho State Police are investigating.
