IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A direct marketing company that manufactures and sells health and cleaning products plans to build a new manufacturing facility in southeastern Idaho and expects to hire hundreds of new workers.

The Post Register reports (http://bit.ly/RPOp2M ) Melaleuca CEO Frank VanderSloot announced the expansion on Wednesday.

Last month, Melaleuca obtained a patent for a process that increases the absorption rate of minerals in the supplements it produces, requiring the company to expand its production.

VanderSloot says the plant will be built near other Melaleuca facilities in Bonneville County, with work likely beginning this spring.

Melaleuca sells about 350 nutritional and household products including supplements, lotions, detergents and powdered drinks.
