TREASURE VALLEY - Speed, inattention and distraction have been determined as contributing factors in the crash that killed 18-year-old Taylor Sauer on Jan. 14.

In a continuing investigation, The Idaho State Police confirmed that Sauer, a Marsing High graduate, was using her cell phone to text extensively during the commute from Logan, Utah, where she attended college.

Sauer was traveling 88 mph right before her Saturn Vue rear-ended a slowly moving semi/tanker trailer going west on Interstate 84 near Mountain Home. A second semi collided into Sauer's car before running off the road.

There were also multiple Facebook communications to and from Sauer minutes before the crash.

Earlier this month, officials said Sauer was not distracted by her phone before the accident, the Associated Press reported.
